| Of Interest: On 19 August 1940 MKI Hurricanes of
213 squadron attacked a formation of Ju88s of 5 Staffel, KG30. As a result
of a rear attack by Sgt Reg Llewellyn flying Hurricane AK-F, No.3113,
one of the Luftwaffe bombers begins to trail smoke shortly to crash into
the English Channel. Reg Llewellyn is credited with 13 enemy aircraft
destroyed, 1 shared destroyed, 1 unconfirmed destroyed, 1 probable and
2 damaged. Sgt Charles Calder "Tich" Palliser also fought in
the 'Battle of Britain' and Malta. His tally was 4 confirmed destroyed,
7 shared destroyed, 2 shared probable and 3 damaged. He was awarded the
D.F.C. and reached the rank of Flight Lieutenant. |
